Drivers honoured for clean records
certificates to commemorate their courteous and clean driving records.
The presentation, in support of National Road Safety Week, took place at the Transportation Control Department in Hamilton.
The winners were selected after their driving records were examined to make sure they had no traffic or parking offences.
The winners were: Michael Compagnon for 50 years of safe driving; Wendell Eve for 15 years of safe driving; Donna Tucker for 20 years of safe driving; and a family of three -- Shawne, Dawnette and Laurita Stephens for 25 years of safe driving apiece.
Mr. Brown recognised the trio's accomplishment.
"This is a unique event that three of the award winners all come from the same family. This shows that they must teach road safety in the home.'' Meanwhile Road Safety Council Officer Roxanne Christopher noted that today was Go Slow Day.
She urged drivers to drive at the posted speed limits to help support the Road Safety Council's efforts to reduce the number of road fatalities on the Island.
She warned that the Police would be out patrolling for speeders and any other traffic offenders.
