EXHIBITIONS
The Ace Gallery, Ace Building, 17 Woodbourne Avenue, Hamilton open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. except by appointment. Groups should call in advance for an appointment 295 5200. At the Ace Gallery, 'Wear It Like This' exhibition continues until late October. This showcases the work of three Bermuda College art and design students, Tiara Ming, Shayla Thomas and Chushi Ming. The artworks centre on the theme of repurposing objects into fashion items by transforming ordinary objects into a variety of unusual and unexpected artwork, from the mellow shades of a Bob Marley messenger bag; to the dark moody declaration of love emblazoned across a T-shirt; to the ingenuity of a glossy prima ballerina. Ace Building lobby has the Ace Collection of Contemporary Australian Aboriginal Art until the end of October. The collection features paintings that capture local landscapes, traditional textiles, body paintings and Australian flora. The 11 pieces were created by woman artists from two community art cooperatives, Peppimenarti in western Northern Territory and Ngukurr in eastern Northern Territory.
