Fairmont Bermuda is keeping their guests physically fit by providing MP3 players and workout clothes for the length of their stay.

There will be no more excuses to skip exercising while on vacation at the Fairmont Bermuda properties as they will provide MP3 players, sneakers and workout clothes to anyone in their Fairmont President's Club.

This programme, Fairmont Fit, is the result of a partnership between Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, adidas and music giant EMI Music and was introduced into their North America properties last year.

Allan Trew, the Fairmont Hamilton Princess manager said the programme has already been successful in their North American properties and looked forward to the same in Bermuda.

He said: "Fairmont did a survey and found that roughly 70 percent of their guests exercise on a regular basis and 50 percent of the business travellers exercise two or three times a week.

"So they teamed up with adidas and EMI music and came up with this programme where adidas supplies the equipment, the pants and tops, and then EMI supplies the player.

"In the Fairmont overseas it has really taken off. What we have found in the four weeks it has operated the programme we have actually had three or four guests purchase the equipment.

"We are looking for great things from the programme."

For only $10 on each visit, the Fairmont President Club guest will have their exercise kit, including shoes, shirt and shorts for men, shirt and capri pants for women, ready for them in their room when they arrive.

Particular sizes for clothing and shoes will be added to the reservation before the guest arrives and the clothing will be available for the entire stay and replaced at any time during the stay.

Each MP3 player which also comes with disposable earphones, contains 500-1,000 songs including top artists such as Coldplay, The Beatles, Norah Jones and a substantial selection of classical music.

Mr. Trew added: "Everything is reused. The equipment is laundered and the shoes are cleaned and used for the next guest. If every day they want new equipment brought to their room they can.

"Fairmont Fit is a programme that makes reaching that goal much easier. And, at a time when airlines are charging surcharges for checked baggage, it is an extra benefit to be able to streamline our guests' packing requirements."

Fairmont Fit is also available at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in the USA, Canada and Barbados. The programme will soon be offered at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
