The 18-year-old student of hairdressing and cosmetology at Dudley College in Birmingham was getting her hair done when she was approached about doing a photo shoot for Black Beauty and Hair, her sister Derenika Emery told The Royal Gazette .

The former Warwick Secondary, CedarBridge Academy and Bermuda College student agreed and subsequently appeared in the February/March issue of the publication modelling a hair style by the UK's Northern Stylist of the Year Tamara Pringle.

Proud father Derek Emery said while his daughter had done no modelling before, she was now interested in the trade as a possible career.

"She had never done anything like this while she was in Bermuda,'' he said.

"Kidist would like to pursue a possible career in modelling now. Hopefully she will get some exposure from this.'' Class act: Kidist as she appears in this month's Black Beauty and Hair magazine
