A pair of long time collaborators will open their show 'Recent Works' tonight at Rock Island Café.

Jon Legere and James Cooper will be showing new works for the holiday season.

Mr Legere's paintings are a celebration of colour with a series of abstract shapes.

"Hundreds of layers have gone into each painting," he said. "I've put it all in each one memories, failures, love lost and confusion.

"With sandpaper and other abrasive tools I dug back in bringing back a bit of the history of each work allowing the past to mingle with the present sometimes clashing, sometimes beautiful."

Mr Cooper has made new 'temporary sculptures' with an undersea commonality that will be documented with photographs.

Tonight's opening of Recent Works runs from 6pm to 9pm.
