Show aims to define meaning of style
A.B. Dolce Productions is having what it is calling "the biggest and baddest fashion show of year to hit the wonderful Island of Bermuda".
The founder of A.P Dolce Productions, Amon Butler, told The Royal Gazette: "The theme for this year's show is 'the definition of style'. There are a range of different elements of fashion, everyone interprets fashion in a different manner. Therefore, 'the definition of style' is all about swagger and carrying yourself with confidence regardless of the actual pieces.
"The audience can expect a very illustrious event that will cater to everyone from short to tall, small to plus-size, male and female, and the show will very theatrical. The fashions are chic, urban, retro and classy."
Fifty models between the ages of 15 and 37 will display clothing from nine retail stores including Gibbons Company, 25 Reid, Sasch, Mambo, Duchess Boutique and Toxic Rose.
Mr. Butler hosted his first fashion show in August 2008.
"The difference between this show and the first is that I have a team in place to assist. Last year's was primarily coordinated by myself," he said.
He went on to say that he has learned to be more organised, patient, focused and not to sweat the small stuff.
"Sometimes things may go wrong but if you take a minute, what you thought was a mountain is in fact a small step to the next level," he said.
Two local designers are also involved Raffine Monique of High Fashion and Unique, and ElleTee by Ashley Aitken. And there will be two international designers the plus-size designer Monif C. and urban designers Jeantrix.
Mr. Butler continued: "We will also be honouring five queens of fashion with the Style, Substance and Glamour Award: Lady Gibbons, Shiona Turini, Sheelagh Cooper, Sheila Ming and Tori Simons."
The fashion extravaganza takes place at The Fairmont Southampton. Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. They are available at Perry Footwear on Reid Street. Doors open at 7.30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.
