MotherBaby International Film Festival (MIFF) will launch its international debut in Bermuda. This three-day world-class event features powerful and inspiring films that explore issues around pregnancy, parenting and birthing. La Leche League of Bermuda will hold a support group meeting open to pregnant women, new mothers and babies at 10.30 a.m. at the first floor Conference Room at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. The meeting topic is 'Facts and Myths about Breastfeeding.' LLL of Bermuda is a registered charity, offering mother-to-mother help and encouragement to women wanting to breastfeed their babies. An accredited La Leche League leader will be present to answer questions and address concerns. The meeting discussions include the latest medical research as well as personal experience. Bermuda International Film Festival 'Man on Wire', which won the Audience Award as well as the Jury Prize in the World Cinema Documentary category at January's Sundance Film Festival, is the Bermuda International Film Festival's September Film Series selection. The film will screen in the Tradewinds Auditorium at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute at 6.30 p.m. (note earlier time). Bermuda National Gallery PartnerRe Art Lecture Series: Bill Brandt in Focus. Reception 5.30 p.m., lecture 6 p.m. by visiting Goldsmiths College, University of London lecturer and art critic, Ian Jeffrey, who will discuss Brandt's connections with European photography in the 1930s and his photographic techniques. This presentation will reveal much about Brandt's personality, his artistic intentions, and the influence of his art from the 1950s onwards: 'a major artist.' $10 members; $20 non-members.

Bermuda Maritime Museum, Dockyard: (1) Commissioner's House: The Exploring Voyage of HMS Challenger in Bermuda 1873. A selection of original and reproduction photographs depicting Bermuda, which were used as evidence in the scientific reports of the Challenger voyage, 1872-76. (2) From the Fay and Geoffrey Elliott Collection: 'U-505 Captured', an exhibit telling the remarkable story of the capture off western Africa and the hiding in Bermuda of the submarine U-505. (3) Steinhoff Magazine, High Cave: 'Prisoners in Paradise': Artefacts in Bermuda cedar/stone/other materials created by Dockyard convict establishment, and prisoners of the Boer and World Wars.
