Somers Day. Celebrate Bermuda's anniversary in St. Georges. 2.30 to 3 p.m. time capsule deposit in King's Square, 5 to 6.15 p.m. official opening of the world heritage centre, 6.15 to 7.15 p.m. re-enactment of the survivors of the wreck of the Sea venture coming ashore at St. Catherine's Beach to King's Square and 8 to 11 p.m. party in King's Square filled with music, dance, fashion and fireworks. Multi-cultural dance, gombeys and more.

Barmuvinjam & Startime present Soca vs Reggae, The Grudge Match, under the big tent at #1 Gate in St. George's. Tickets $40 in advance from Secrets, $50 at the gate.

Emancipation Day at the Botanical Gardens from 12 noon to 8 p.m. A full day to commemorate the emancipation of Bermuda's enslaved people in 1834. Local crafts and jewellery, children's activities, Bermuda Gourmet Getaway Fish Chowder Challenge finals and more.

August 14

T.O.C. Entertainment is proud to present, Mary J. Blige and Robin Thicke in concert at National Stadium. Tickets on sale at bdatix.bm, in person at the BAA Gymnasium, 24 Woodlands Road and by phone. $3 additional fee per ticket will apply, on 232-2255 or 1-800-309-8497 in Canada and the US. The BAA will be filled with fun and excitement with give-aways, trivia, contests, food, and drinks. A live DJ will entertain. T.O.C.
