NEW YORK (AP) — Next fall, when millions of kids tune into Cartoon Network to watch their animated favorites, they'll encounter an ambitious new campaign against bullying.

The campaign will target middle-schoolers, an age when bullying often is at its worst.

It will include a series of new public service ads, as well as online materials on tactics that kids can use when they witness bullying. Simultaneously, Cartoon Network's sister network, CNN, will run a series of news reports on the impact of bullying and ways to curtail it.

The network plans to start the campaign October 1.

It's working in partnership with a federal health agency and is being advised by some of the nation's top anti-bullying experts.
