An event of Herculean status is about to go off on the shores of Bermuda tonight.

From England there is David Rodigan and coming out of Jamaica is none other than Rory of Stone Love.

The last time these titans of clash met, was in New York City about two years ago and at that time, Mr. Rodigan was the victor. Tonight's clash may or may not reveal another victor.

Jungle 2008 is set to take place at Number One Gate, Kindley Field Road, St. George's.

Also performing this evening is DJ Double S, Black Starr and Genesis.

Tomorrow night there will be a party in the same venue, which will feature David Rodigan, Magic & Soul Jah One, Vybez Alliance, China and Bussy and Magnum.

MS/Magnum Force Productions' Norman Godwin, who represents Stone Love, and Andrew (Baha) Phillips of Global Arts Entertainment, spoke to The Royal Gazette about the tonight's offerings.

Although the pair has clashed previously in Bermuda, this is the first for many years, explained Mr. Godwin.

"This is their second clash in Bermuda, I think they clashed once in England, but I am not 100 percent sure of that," he said.

"But you remember they clashed in New York, it was the final of the final The World Sound Clash and Rodigan won that won."

Mr. Philips added: "Basically this is a very exciting clash, because these are the two number one guys in the industry and Stone Love doesn't regularly clash."

Mr. Godwin added: "So it is a very special occasion when Stone Love takes to the arena to clash."

Mr. Philips said that Stone Love are known more for being a party sound and of course they are popular in Bermuda.

"But when the two of them go together they have the most exciting dubplates," he said.

"It is really entertaining for the crowds and that is what you see thousands of people coming out for.

"At these parties the artist has to impress the crowds in order to win, so if there is more screaming then it is more entertaining for the crowd."

In addition, Mr. Philip said that they were excited about the new venue that had opened up for them.

"It is the Old Kindley Field at Number One Gate," he said.

"That is another venue and people can party right next to the runway with jets screaming in."

On a more forward note, Mr. Godwin who has worked with Stone Love for about two decades, added: Bermuda probably won't see this again.

"So you know what I mean, this is history in the making for Dance Hall fans and I invite people to come and witness it.

"It will happen no where else in the world for years to come.

"The New York Finals were like three years ago, I had to pull teeth to get this one out. So it is very special."

"Quite simply," added Mr. Philips, "This is the best that we have to offer in the dance hall sound business.

"The adults don't understand what make people come out in droves, although this is an adult event.

"These sounds go back and that is what makes their plates."

We have Double S bringing it right up to the clash, and then earlier by Genesis and Black Starr.

Of Stone Love and Rodigan, Mr. Godwin said: "I can say, you name the artist, but the only artist that they don't have is probably Bob Marley - that's it. You name the artist they have it!"

"This is what makes their repertoire so extensive," said Mr. Phillips.

Tickets, which are $50 in advance are available from Music World and Audio Visual. At the gate tickets are $60.
