Cup Match travellers like cruises, New York, Vegas

For some residents the Cup Match holidays mean something altogether different from cricket, camping and remembering Emancipation – it's an opportunity to get off Island without using up valuable holiday time.

Many expats take the opportunity to fly to see family and some Bermudians also find the holidays offer a prime time to get off Island for an extra-long weekend.

Kim Every of Meyer-Franklin Travel said many Cup Match travellers are heading to New York City or Las Vegas this year.

"Both cities are favourites for Bermudians and the extra-long weekend allows holiday-makers plenty of time to enjoy the shows, shopping and the simple pleasure of getting away," she said.

Others are taking more extended trips, she added, and Meyer has seen clients book week-long or more breaks for cruises to the Caribbean and Mediterranean.
