Education awards for two local singers
Two young Bermudians have been selected for The Ensemble Singers' Music Education Award Scheme.
The Ensemble Singers, who operate under the direction of Lloyd Matthew, is an auditioned group where members are selected for their talent and collective commitment to delivering the highest standard of performances of choral music both in Bermuda and overseas.
Gary L. Phillips, president, of The Ensemble Singers said the registered charity established a Music Education Award scheme as a way of encouraging young Bermudians who are keenly interested in pursuing a career in music.
"We are delighted to announce that through our selection process we have this year identified for financial support and encouragement, two young Bermudian students — Sheldon Fox II and Winton Brangman," said Mr. Phillips.
"Sheldon Fox is a 2008 honours graduate of the Bermuda College who will be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Music Education at Southeastern University, Lakeland, Florida.
"His primary instruments are the piano and the cornet.
"While Winton Brangman, who is a Warwick Academy student, plays several musical instruments and is currently pursuing advanced classes in piano at the Bermuda School of Music."
The Ensemble Singers acknowledges with appreciation its many sponsors and supporters and also announced that its next major concert will be held on December 14 at the Wesley Methodist Church.
