Troy back with unity message

Popular gospel-reggae artist Troy Anthony is back on the Island to share his message of love and unity at the Sunday in the Park event.

"I am just going to bring a positive message in a sweet reggae style for the people that know. It's just another day as usual," said the local artist, currently based in the United Kingdom.

"It is always relevant, even when things are going fine. It's an everyday message," he said. "People love it, they can connect with it"

Mr. Anthony, who got his start in music as a disc jockey, began singing in the early 90s. "The first big performance I did was Culture Shock. It was a great experience, it was a stepping stone to the rest of my career," he said.

Though he will be singing on a smaller scale than fans are used to, Mr. Anthony still plans to wow the crowd with songs like Next Generation and More Love. Both have a message of unity and bring the gospel of Jesus Christ into the fore front.

He encourages people to come out and enjoy the event, which is happening tomorrow from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Victoria Park. "I do hope people come out and have a good time and celebrate local talent for what it is; (part of) local culture and local flavour."
