Autism workshop
The Bermuda Autism Support and Education will hold a Learning Styles and Autism Spectrum Disorders Workshop on Saturday to help parents and professionals increase their knowledge of how individuals on the autism spectrum learn.The half-day workshop will take place at Prospect Primary School auditorium from 9am to 12.30pm. The cost of the workshop is $15 for members and $25 for non-members and those wishing to attend can register at basebda[AT]yahoo.comThe workshop will also help education professionals meet their required amount of professional development hours for Bermuda Educators Council (BEC) relicensing for teachers. Educators will receive a certificate for three-and-a-half hours of BEC training.Workshop attendees will learn about:n Challenges that autism brings to learning and why these challenges exist.n Learning styles that typically accompany autism and how to utilise learning strengths and challenges.n Implications for teaching individuals on the autism spectrum.Parents and educators will become more successful in their interactions with individuals on the autism spectrum by developing a clearer understanding of autism spectrum disorders and implementing practical strategies based on individual learning styles.
