The Progressive Labour Party is holding a special family fun day this weekend to celebrate the end of the school year.“The fun day was an idea that started back in April as a means of the branch doing something for the community of Hamilton Parish, but also everyone else on the Island as well,” said Hamilton West branch secretary Tinee Furbert.“Anyone who has been in school can relate to the feeling of what it is like to be out of school for the summer.”One of the more popular attractions promises to be a display of big trucks.A fire truck will be among those on display with children given the opportunity to sit in them.Another highlight will be a soccer game at 4pm. Members of Parliament and community celebrities such as entertainers Bootsie and Jah Simmons will play with the Hamilton Parish Youth Soccer team. The game will be followed by displays by the PHC Majorettes and dance groups Split Personality and No Limits.“We want to get the young crowd excited about being out of school, and also bring in representation of the youth talent that is out there,” said Mrs Furbert. There will also be a fun castle, food vendors and games. The event takes place at Shelly Bay Field from 3pm to 9pm.Parking is on the field or in the vicinity. The event is open to the entire community.
