BSM free lunchtime concerts begin on Friday
The Bermuda School of Music will host a series of free lunchtime concerts starting on Friday.The hour-long programme will begin at noon and feature BSM faculty members Jerremiah Smith, on classical guitar, and Oliver Grant on piano.Mr Smith will perform ‘Recuerdos de la Alhambra, Capricho Arabe’ by Spanish guitarist and composer Francisco Tarrega and ‘Barcarole’ by Agustin Barrios.Known as “the great Paraguayan”, Barrios wrote many favourite works for the guitar which were heavily influenced by South American and Central American folk music.Bellinati, a multi-instrumentalist and composer, is one of Brazil's most accomplished contemporary guitarists.Mr Grant’s programme is expected to include Spanish music as well as works by Chopin and Debussy.While admission is free, donations to the BSM bursary fund are welcomed. The fund assists students who could otherwise not afford lessons.The concert takes place at Wesley Methodist Church on Church Street.
