In Motion looking to ‘blow the audience away’

In Motion Dance studio is gearing up for its seventh ‘Concepts’ show, after a three-year hiatus.

In Motion is promising to ‘blow the audience away’ with its latest show entitled ‘Concepts’.Brought back for the first time in three years, the show will feature local dancers heating up the stage with moves from international choreographers. The event will take place on Friday and Saturday at 8pm, at the Ruth Seaton James Auditorium.Lizz Pimentel, the dance school’s director, said: “This show promises to be our best ever, with a cast of dancers that features not only our Junior and Senior company dancers, but also many of our professional dancers retuning to Bermuda specifically for this performance.“The show features pieces from International Choreographers Slam, Ashley Lindsey, BJ Sullivan and more, as well as local favourites like Jennifer Soares, Lauren Rowntree, Candice Musselman.“This year we’re thrilled to feature a piece choreographed by alumni Courtney Lopes, back from performing in New York. [So] whether you are a fan of Ballet, Modern, Jazz, or Lyrical, you’re sure to be blown away by the talent on display.”The show had to be put together in three weeks, so dancers spent hours on end working and rehearsing at the studio.Ms Pimentel said some dancers had to balance school and exams, with the hectic rehearsal schedule.“[This] really is a labour of love for everyone and is a huge family environment,” she said. “We work hard and play hard and have so much fun in the studio.“Audiences can expect to see something different in every piece. The choreographers come from such diverse backgrounds and represent such diverse styles but the amalgamation of them all onto one stage is thrilling to see.”She also said the show was suitable for people of all ages.Concepts In Motion Dance Company in conjunction with In Motion School of Dance have offered more than $75,000 worth of annual scholarships to worthy dancers over the years.Dancers are offered free classes and workshops with local and overseas choreographers, in a bit to help improve their dance technique and performance experience, said Ms Pimentel.Tickets, $45 for general and $65 for patrons, are available from www.bdatix.bm and www.inmotion.bm.
