Kidd Clazzic nominated for international award
A Bermudian rap artist has been nominated for an international award after honing his skills through a developing artists programme over the summer.Jahroy Richards, aka ‘Kidd Clazzic’, has recently received an official nomination for the Rap/Hip Hop category in the 2013 Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA). He was recognised after recently releasing his new single ‘Fly Away’, featuring Bermudian artist Chiante’ Roberts, aka KeKe Roberts. The tune was produced by IVibes Productions.When Jahroy was told about his nomination he expressed one of his favourite sayings; “Word, Word!?”“This is like — wow — it is an amazing feeling right now,” he said. “I knew we were on to something when creating the song — Craig [producer at IVibes] told me that the song was a hit.”Jahroy’s response to his nomination was: “It means that I’m on the right track — that my passion for music is right and that I am going to continue creating music because that’s what God created me to do.”The awards event honours some of the brightest and best media talents throughout the US and serves to highlight the achievements of those who want to improve the musical media landscape.It will take place in November, at the famous Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, California.PlayList Management CEO Theresa Minors said: “It is so exciting that we have been successful again in receiving a nomination and this time with two of Bermuda’s young and talented individuals.“Both Kidd Clazzic and KeKe Roberts have participated in our Developing Artists Programme (2012 and as interns in 2013) and for them to be placed in this pool of international musical artists is not only amazing, but a major accomplishment.“Their ability to not only perform but create, develop and produce a higher calibre of music is humbling and PlayList is blessed to be a part of it.”The awards show is a live, red-carpet event that will honour the music of visual mediums, independent music artists, and the professionals in charge of placing music in visual mediums.The two-hour show will feature live music performances, award presentations, celebrity appearances and a dinner banquet.HMMA will welcome celebrity hosts including 2013 Blockbuster film star Eric Roberts, former Matchbox 20 member Adam Gaynor, celebrity spokesmodel Suzan Brittan — Gault, Rockstar Supernova and Guns n’ Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, radio host Samantha Phillips, showman, artist and impressionist Greg London, and R & B recording artist Howard Hewett.Useful website: www.hmmawards.org
