A weekend of activities planned for young people at ‘Youth On Fire Jam Fest’

Poetry and music can inspire and impact today’s youth through the spiritual message of love, godly choices and transformation.There are various artists shinning the light of hope through the Spoken Word and rapping the word.Youth On One Accord under the covering of CORE Ministries will be hosting Youth on Fire Jam Fest: Rewrite History, for young people of all ages.The Jam Fest will be a free weekend event for three days starting from Friday, August 23, 2013 to Sunday, August 25th.Targeted at Bermuda’s youth promises to help cultivate a relationship with God and be an impact in the lives of teens and young adults.Youth On One Accord will be featuring poet and Speaker Ezekiel Azonwu.The event organiser Charmarie Woolridge — Virgin said: “I was appreciating Ezekiel with his music and poetry and a vision was given to inspire Bermuda’s youth to make a difference and know that they can be someone important.”Ezekiel is well known for poetry performances such as ‘Almost Saved’, ‘Silence Is Deadly’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’.The youth event will start of by having a “Coffeehouse Lounge” on the Friday at the Evening Light Pentecostal Church at 6pm.Jam Fest will continue on the Saturday with a concert at Heritage Worship Centre at 6pm and ending on the Sunday with Ezekiel ministering the word at CORE Ministries in their 11am service at The Berkeley Institute.Mrs Woolridge — Virgin said: “It doesn’t matter where you come from or what your history is. The youth can make the right choices through Christ and they can be a catalyst for society.”The youth ministry has had past fundraisers such as a car wash, bake sale and walk — a — thon to raise funds for this event.She said: “We are trying to raise funds to keep the event free and make a change.”Youth On One Accord hopes to have a future mentoring programme linking positive young people to at-risk youth that will instil Christian values connecting brothers and sisters in Christ together.They also want to do community outreach in providing food, school supplies and any other supplies that families may be in need of with the funds they have.Mrs Woolridge — Virgin said: “I know that Bermuda can be a better place and I know that Bermuda can be prosperous.
