Happy book: The cover of Geoff Parker’s new book Happy As A Fox.

Happy the Yorkshire Terrier is up to mischief again in the latest children’s book by local author Geoff Parker.Mr Parker’s first children’s book Happy’s Christmas Gift was a hit when it was released in 2010. Mr Parker and the book’s British illustrator Lisa Fox won the 2012 Gelett Burgess Children’s Book Award in the seasonal category. Now the book’s main character Happy is proving that he can find trouble no matter what the season. In Happy As a Fox, Happy is vacationing in the English countryside when he is mistaken for a fox who is being hunted during a traditional British fox hunt. Now Happy must use his gift of kindness to help his new fox friend, so he can get back to his own family.Happy As a Fox comes in hard back and soft cover and includes a Spanish translation and a poster.Happy’s illustrator, Lisa Fox will be visiting Bermuda next week and will be signing books at the Bermuda Craft Centre in Dockyard.“Children who already have Happy books can bring them along for signing and talk with Lisa and I about how words are turned into pictures,” said Mr Parker. “For any budding local illustrators or authors of children’s books that would like to take advantage of Lisa’s vast experience please make their way to Dockyard.”A third Happy book will be available just prior to the 2014 hurricane season called “Happy and the Great Hurricane”.Mr Parker was inspired by his son’s Yorkshire Terrier also called Happy, who died suddenly a few years ago.“Without my fantastic illustrator Lisa, assisted by her young son Callum, there would be no book,” said Mr Parker. “I thank her for her input, patience, sincerity, friendship and professionalism. She continues to amaze me with her talent that seems to reach another level each book we do together. Long may this association continue.”Ms Fox will sign books at the Bermuda Craft Centre in Dockyard on August 25 and September 1 from 1.30pm to 4pm.For more information see Happy’s website at www.happytalespublishing.com.
