St Gorgeous vs. Stunnerset comedy - will it be more silly that silly mid off?

Delivering laughs: Poster for the St Gorgeous vs Stunnerset comedy.

Delivering great laughs to make a difference in the lives of families across Bermuda is the name of the game. The Bermuda Musical & Dramatic Society (BMDS) will be hosting a Cup Match comedy ‘St Gorgeous vs. Stunnerset’. The comedy will be hitting the stage tonight and tomorrow night at the Daylesford Theatre. The comedy is a mix of ‘Whose Line is it Anyway’ and Cup Match with the two teams Stunnerset and St Gorgeous competing for runs that the audience will assign at the end of each improve game or scene.Toby Butterfield, of Improv, said: “Playing on the Cup Match theme was an easy choice. I love Cup Match and everyone I know loves Cup Match and their favourite team. Anyone coming to the show will come knowing which team they are supporting. Of course we did change it a little, just for the extra laughs; the competing teams are St Gorgeous and Stunnerset! We’ll improvise our little hearts out and even if the teams walk away with a draw, our chosen charities will be winners.”The show will provide a unique interactive experience and the audience are expected to be prepared in cheering their team on. Overseas guest Joshua Budman from Montreal will be joining the Improv performers. All the funds that are raised will be going to the Family Centre and BMDS Charitable Trust. Executive director of The Family Centre, Martha Dismont, said: “We are grateful that we have been chosen as one of the charities to receive proceeds from this event. We are equally excited to lend our support to Ms Butterfield from Improv Bermuda. Ms Butterfield has been one of the lead performers at our annual ‘Celebrate the Night’ and we look forward to the shows.”The BMDS appreciates the hard work of the Family Centre and are thankful for the exposure that they have received through the charity.Ms Butterfield said: “It was easy to pick the Family Centre as one of the recipients of our first Hilarity for Charity show. They do such important work with our Island’s children and families and they have also given us exposure in the past by inviting us to perform at their big Celebrate the Night fundraiser. So this is a win win from our point of view, we get to do what we love … play improv games in front of an audience, and they get a donation to continue their work.”During the night of the shows there will be opportunities to give with 50 percent going to BMDS and 50 percent going to the Family Centre. The comedy will start at 8pm.Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door starting at 7pm. Online tickets are also available for purchase @ http://www.express.bm/BoxOffice/Default.aspx
