Alan Joell installed as Right Worshipful Master of Bahamian lodge

RW BroAlan Joell is shown seated with The San Andreas Lodge Administration for the year 2013-14. Seated from left to right are Brothers Clement Foster PM, Assistant Treasurer, Alphanso Smith, Worshipful Senior Warden, Joel Lewis PM, Deputy Master, RW Master Alan W Joell, Immediate Past Master Dave Munroe, Substitute Master Ryan Antonio PM and Tyrone McKenzie PM Worshipful Junior Warden. Standing from left to right are Brothers Junior Deacon Brandon Bowleg, Secretary Darin Bethel, Treasurer Javon Rolle, Inner Guard Willard Oliver and Giovanni Rolle, Senior Deacon.

Warwick resident Alan Wayne Joell is a master of many trades who makes his living as an engineer at the King Edward V11 Memorial Hospital.

He is also a widely travelled Free Mason, with the grand title of Right Worshipful Brother.

The word ‘travelled’ in the Masonic craft ofttimes means more than an ordinary journey from point ‘a’ to point ‘b’.

So in RW Bro Alan’s case it is all embracing. When his many friends hear he has ‘gone to lodge meeting’ some may think he has gone to his ‘Mother Lodge’ which is Somers Isle Lodge on Hog Bay Level in Sandys Parish.

Others would quickly conclude he’s attending any one of many meetings of Bermuda Garrison Lodge in Hamilton, of which he served two terms as Wor. Master.

Actually RW Alan Joell could well be on Andros Island in the Bahamas where more than a month ago he was Installed as the seventh Right Worshipful Master of Lodge San Andreas No 1835 of the District Grand Lodge of The Bahamas on the Roll of the Grand Lodge of Scotland.

From Bermuda he regularly has to catch three different planes to attend his meetings there.

RW Bro Joell is a Founding Member and was the Consecrating Almoner of Lodge San Andreas after the vision was realised with forty-five Brethren from The Bahamas, Bermuda and Jamaica petitioning the Grand Lodge of Scotland to Erect and Consecrate a Scottish Constitution Lodge on the island.

Prominent among other Bermudians attending that Consecrating Meeting was the (now deceased) Bro Richmond (Doc) Anderson. The latter formally presented to the Lodge its ‘Working Tools exquisitely made of Bermuda cedar by Bro Anderson.

Andros is one of the islands in The Bahamas that make up the one hundred thousand square mile archipelago that extends over five hundred miles and a total of seven hundred islands.

Andros is the largest of the twenty-six inhabited islands and has a total area greater than all the other seven hundred Bahamian islands combined and is the world’s sixth longest barrier reef.

RW Brother Joell was Installed in an exemplary manner by the Installing Master Brother Dave Munroe who was the Immediate Past Master of the Lodge and assisted by Brother Darien Creary PM the District Grand Lodge of The Bahamas Director of Ceremonies.

Under the watchful eye of the Right Worshipful District Grand Master Brother Charles W Johnson PM HJGW and a Delegation of Honorary and District Grand Officers, Brother Munroe reportedly was in fine form as he communicated all the Rights and Privileges to the newly Installed Right Worshipful Master of the Scottish Constitution.

RW Bro Joell as we noted above, is also a Past Master of Bermuda Garrison Lodge No 580 and a Past Provincial Grand Officer of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Bermuda on the Roll of the Grand Registry of Ireland.

The newly Installed RW Master, Brethren, wives and guests then retired from the Installation Ceremony to The Green Windows Restaurant for the banquet which followed for an excellent meal, song and a great social evening.

RW Bro Alan Joell being congratulated by his Installing Master Bro Dave Munroe, who is well known by Bermuda Brethren.
