Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda Walk-a-thon rescheduled to May 18
If you were waiting for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda Walk-a-thon fundraiser, you might have to wait a bit longer.
The event has been rescheduled to Sunday, May 18 starting at 8.30am from Charities House on Point Finger Road.
“All participants can wear something wacky and join in, the crazier the better,” said Patrina Paynter, Fund Development Marketing Director of Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
Participants can wear mix matched clothes, costumes or even wear a crazy hat; the sky is the limit.
There will be a prize given to the wackiest walker.
The pledge sheet asks you to indicate if you are wearing something wacky or something ordinary. Individuals that do not wish to dress wacky can wear a white T-shirt.
“This fundraiser for BBBS is also an opportunity for students to gain community service hours,” said Ms Paynter. “The walk-a-than will be a 5K starting at Charities House going throughout Hamilton and back.
“Student participants will be able to receive two hours of community service for their participation. There will be a warm up activity and then the walk.
“If they have a completed pledge sheet an additional hour of community service will be offered as it takes time for students to go out and seek pledges.”
Those who do not collect are asked to donate $15 to BBBS.
“The entire Bermuda community is invited to participate,” said Ms Paynter.
The walk is sponsored by Dasani, Kashi and Coca Cola. Snacks will be provided by these sponsors.
