Reggae artist Magma may be on the verge of a major breakthrough in his career, thanks to a little help from one of his heroes.

The Bermudian singer has done a remake of Half Pint’s classic, Level Di Vibes, which features the veteran Jamaican singer.

“I am getting a lot of love for Level Di Vibes remake,” Magma, whose real name is Adam Mayo, told The Jamaica Observer.

“I am very proud of the Half Pint remake because he is one of my heroes in reggae music, and it was humbling to be in the studio with him to do over the song. The track came out well and I leaked it to radio and the streets and, given the overwhelming response, Half Pint and I are going to do a video in February.”

The song will have its official release next month on iTunes and other downloadable music platforms via Magma’s own Moltenrock Productions label.

“Everyone is telling me that the Level Di Vibes song is a straight hit, and with its release in Reggae Month, we feel that it is going to be a monster hit by the summer,” he said.

“I am really looking forward to performing it live with him on a stage in the future.”

The artist has also released another single, Love Life, which has also been well received.

His cover of Paul Simon’s Diamonds On The Soles of Her Shoes, was also a big hit on Jamaican radio.

“I have been recording a number of songs, and doing a lot of writing with my friend Danny English, and I feel we have enough songs to release another album maybe later this year. Right now, mi a level the vibes and put in the work,” said Magma, whose sole album, The Mission, was released in 2015.

Inspired by the late Bob Marley, The Congos and Burning Spear, Magma moved to Jamaica in 2006 in search of more recording opportunities.

He grew up in Warwick and attended Saltus Grammar School before furthering his education in England.
