BREAKING NEWS: Marshall romps to Half Marathon victory

Larry Marshall today emerged from behind his younger brother's shadow to land a maiden triumph in the Island's premier road race.

Marshall picked the right moment to make his move on Harbour Road and never took his foot off the gas as he broke the tape at the Dutton Avenue finish line in a winning time of one hour, 12 minutes and 11 seconds - ahead of perennial bridesmaid Jay Donawa and brother Lamont.

Marshall's winning time is now the official record on the new course while his maiden Bermuda Half Marathon victory might have come as a surprise to many given his troubles with injury in the lead up to today's race.

The overwhelming women's favourite, Dawn Richardson, appeared like she'd simply been out walking the dog in the aftermath of her commanding victory today.

Looking remarkably fresh, the Englishwoman sped over the finish line in one hour, 27 minutes and 30 seconds - almost two minutes ahead of nearest rival Victoria Fiddick.

The 20th Sinclair Packwood Memorial Cycling Race was won after when a sensational early break from Neil de Ste. Croix left the more fancied Garth Thomson and defending champion Ricky Sousa jr for dead.
