Twenty-four-year-old Lori Mello passed away yesterday afternoon. She was diagnoised with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in May last year and underwent many treatments of chemotherapy.
Her plight struck a cord with thousands of people, when an appeal was made so Lori could undergo treatment in December, nearly $200,000 poured in.
Her cousin, Brian Morris the Belmont Hills golf pro, played 24 hours of golf and other donations poured in from friends and strangers. Lori, who attended Saltus Grammar Scool, before obtaining a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education, was studying behavioural science at George Brown College in Toronto when she was diagnoised.
Lori was described by many as “beautiful”, “fun-loving” and “caring”.
