Two men injured after police chase
Two men were injured after their motorbike collided with a police car following a chase through Hamilton today.A Police spokesman said: “Police were on mobile patrol at around 3.35am on January 1, when they attempted to stop a man riding a motorcycle with a passenger, travelling at a high rate of speed on Angle Street.“Officers followed the vehicle, however the cyclist continued at a high rate of speed, failing to come to a stop at the stop sign at the junction of Court and Angle Streets. This resulted in the motorcycle colliding with another police vehicle that was travelling south on Court Street.“Officers immediately rendered assistance to the two men on the motorcycle until the ambulance arrived and both men were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where they are being treated for multiple superficial wounds and both men received a broken leg. None of the injuries appear to be life threatening.”Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact them on 295-0011.
