50-year-old attacked by two men believed to be armed
A 50-year-old man was beaten and dragged for 75 yards by two men — one thought to be armed — before he managed to break free and call for help,.A Police spokesman said: “Police responded to a report of a robbery that took place a few minutes after 2am on January 1. It appears that a 50-year-old Sandy's man was returning from a function and he was arriving back at his home.“As he was exiting his car, two men came out of the bushes and attacked him. The victim states that one of the men brandished what is believed to be a firearm and made demands of money.“The man was then hit in the face and then the two men proceeded to drag him 75 yards before he escaped.“He managed to break free and went inside the building where someone called the ambulance. He was conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he received treatment for lacerations and swelling to his lips. The man stated nothing was stolen from him.”Police would be interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed or may have any information on this incident to contact police on 2950011, or the independent Crime Stoppers number 800-8477.In another incident at about 12.30am on Sunday, January 2, police attended a business on Devil's Hole Hill, in Smith's, after someone had entered the store with what appeared to be a handgun, demanding cash. Police said it was unclear whether or not he made off with anything but no one was injured.
