Sailors found after two weeks missing at sea
After two weeks missing at sea Bermudians Carlos Rogers and Kwesi Hollis have been found “safe and well” near the Island. The Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre said the pair had been found 150 nautical miles southeast of Bermuda at 4.26pm yesterday aboard the Carefree IV.A passing cargo ship, the MV Bay Ranger, provided the sailors with water and provisions after they established radio contact. A spokesman said: “The crew were safe and well, though tired.”He added that Mr Rogers, 41, and Mr Hollis, 36, are continuing their journey to Bermuda.Until yesterday no one had heard from them since December 18. At that time, they were reportedly running low on food and water and were 210 nautical miles southwest of the Island. They went missing during a period of heavy wind and rain around the Island, with gusts of up to 50 knots. The sailors were due to arrive in Bermuda on December 23 but did not. There were concerns about their safety and the US Coast Guard launched a search for two days, but called it off on Christmas Eve.
