Welcome to Boot Camp: No talking in the ranks, sunshine!
More volunteers and more women turned up at Warwick Camp for the two-week Boot Camp which started today.

Scores of new recruits took their first steps to becoming trained soldiers this morning — including the highest amount of army volunteers in recent years. While the official count won't be formalised until later today, Captain Duncan Simons said 150 to 175 men and women were expected at Boot Camp.Nearly 23 to 30 young people volunteered for this year's recruit camp, including between eight and 12 women. Some showed up with pristine uniforms and polished boots and said they were looking forward to the two week induction to the Bermuda Regiment. While others had come in plain clothes and were ordered by Regimental Police to take off earings, jewellery and head gear before entering Warwick Camp.Latecomers had to be given a shove in the right direction, while the more enthusiastic of the bunch such as O'Brian Gibbons, 20, said:<\p>“I am looking forward to starting. I am looking forward to the adventure.”Cpt Simons said the new recruits would be in for a hard physical and mental challenge. He added: “It's an opportunity for a broad cross section of young Bermudians between 18 and 30-years-old to have a shared experience together, to go through a challenge with mild adversity and come out as disciplined and positive men and women that can confront a challenge whatever it maybe.”
