Do you know a young person who is helping to make Bermuda a better place?

The Centre on Philanthropy is asking the public to help find and honour young people who are making Bermuda a better place.The organisation will name the Young Philanthropist of the Year on February 24 and is now asking residents to nominate those worthy of the honour.Programme manager Danielle Riviere said: “We feel it is important to recognise the contributions that young people make to improve our community.“It is also an opportunity to engage and encourage those who will lead the charitable sector in the future.”The award, given out every other year, is intended to honour persons under the age of 19 who have identified a social issue in Bermuda and created a programme to make a difference.Four finalists will be invited to the awards presentation on February 24. The winner will receive a $2,500 education award, a certificate and a plaque. In past years, only around a dozen names have been put forward organisers are optimistic that number will increase this year.Nomination forms can be downloaded from www.centreonphilanthropy.org. The deadline for nominations is February 2.
