A road collision victim broke down in tears this morning as he told the jury how an allegedly drunk motorcyclist knocked him down on a pedestrian crossing.Sylvan Dill, 47, was crossing Reid Street in Hamilton around 10pm on May 11, 2010 when he was hit, suffering a double fracture to his right leg and a facial fracture.Ashley Redmond, 41, from Smith's, is charged with causing the collision by riding his motorcycle while either impaired by alcohol or while over the legal alcohol limit. He denies the allegations. However, in emotional testimony to Mr Redmond's Supreme Court trial, Mr Dill said this morning: “I looked to the right and the bike was coming so fast I couldn't even do nothing. He came so fast I couldn't even tried to avoid him or nothing. He struck me on the right side of my body, I was thrown a distance with the impact from the hit.”Mr Dill was taken to hospital in the same ambulance as Mr Redmond, who was knocked unconscious in the collision. He said he smelled strong alcohol on Mr Redmond's breath in the ambulance. Mr Dill needed surgery for his injuries and arrived at the court limping heavily. The trial continues.
