Man arrested in groping case
Police have taken a man into custody in connection with an indecent touching incident at the Washington Mall this week.
A court appearance for the alleged culprit is expected in the near future, Police said yesterday.
The arrest came after a man placed his hand on the buttocks of a female customer at the Washington Mall Deli on Tuesday afternoon.
The woman, who did not know the man, confronted him and promptly chased him out of the mall to Washington Lane but the man escaped in the vicinity of the Hamilton Bus Terminal.
Gas station to close
Construction will take place at the Shell Causeway Service Station next week.
The station was closed for two days this week as preparation work took place at the site and next a refurbishment of the station's convenience store will take place from January 12 to January 14.
"We apologise for any inconvenience that closing the station may cause our valued customers," said Shell Oil products manager David Rose.
"During this period of construction, which will improve the Causeway Service Station by adding a refurbished convenience store to the site, we are aiming to keep the station open as long as possible but it must close at some points for this work to be carried out.
"We thank all our customers for their patience and understanding at this time."
New waste drop-off
Truckers have a new drop-off point for commercial horticultural waste from Hurricane Fabian.
The Department of Works and Engineering said the change will take effect from Monday.
The new site is on Perimeter Lane, which is off Glebe Road, Pembroke, and the area will be sign posted.
Residents may still deposit domestic horticultural waste at the Marsh Folly Road location.

DVD player stolen
On the heels of Tuesday's reported DVD player theft, Police reported yesterday that another North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish home was stripped of entertainment equipment.
The resident told Police that some time on Wednesday a burglar broken into her home and made off with a Sony DVD/VCR player along with a small stereo.
This theft comes only one day after another North Shore Road resident was robbed of his collection of 35 DVDs along with his DVD player.
Play Station stolen
A video game thief struck a home in Southampton on Wednesday.
A Sink Bay Road resident told Police that sometime between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. that day an unknown culprit had gained entry into his home.
A Play Station 2 game system, two controllers and various Play Station games were reported missing from the residence.
School honours pupils
Spice Valley Middle School will hold its first ever honours assembly where students who have been named to the principal's list and first and second honours lists will be honoured.
The initiative by school principal Dawnelle Walker has helped to motivate students at the Warwick school, which is attended by almost 300 students, aged 11 to 14.
The assembly, to which parents of the students who are being honoured are being invited, takes place at 8.40 a.m., school spokeswoman Tia-Maria Robinson said.
