Breaking News: HRC launches investigation into discrimination allegations
The Human Rights Commission this afternoon announced it had launched an inquiry into allegations of systemic discrimination against Bermudians in the construction industry.
In a statement the HRC said: “As a result of several complaints it has received from Bermudians alleging that they have received differential treatment in the construction industry, the Commission will investigate the rate of pay, training, apprenticeship and lines of progression for advancement within construction companies, based on evidence it receives.”
During an investigation, all information and the identity of complainants and anyone who assists with any aspect of an investigation will be kept in confidence.
The statement adds: “Please be reminded that retaliation against a complainant or any one who assists with an investigation under the Act is unlawful.”
