MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1: The new Minister of National Security David Burch will represent Bermuda in Barbados at the funeral of the late Prime Minister, David Thompson.

A State Funeral will be held in Bridgetown, Barbados, for the late Prime Minister on Wednesday.

Mr. Thompson passed away Saturday, October 23, after losing his battle with cancer. Prime Minister Thompson was 48-years-old and was a leading light in the Caricom community.

Mr. Burch said this afternoon: "While this is indeed a sad occasion, I am honoured to represent Bermuda in this capacity. Prime Minister Thompson was a friend of Bermuda and it is only fitting that we show the support of not only the Government of Bermuda, but also the people of Bermuda."
