St. David's Islanders and Police joined together last night in a search for the missing senior Frank Cabral.

But unfortunately the search of almost every nook and cranny in St. David's proved fruitless.

Mr. Cabral, 70, of Cove Valley, is a Portuguese male, 5 feet 3 inches in height, balding with grey hair.

He was last seen on February 13, wearing tan pants, a red shirt and according to family and friends, he may have had a walking stick.

It is thought that he walked out of the rear of the residential home where he was living. Last night searchers followed his possible footsteps.

United Bermuda Party (UBP) Shadow Minister Suzann Holshouser and around 30 to 40 other Islanders searched the east end but some residents are under the impression that he may not be in that area.

One resident told the Police Mr. Cabral had recently mentioned Nelson Hunt, the owner of Hunt's Sanitation in Warwick, and suggested the elderly man might have gone to his former employer.

The last time Mr. Cabral went missing he was found in the St. John's Road, Pembroke, area.

Residents will meet again this evening at 5.30 p.m. at Dark Bay, which is just off Lighthouse Hill to continue the search.

Last night Police urged anyone who might see Mr. Cabral to speak to him and to call in immediately with his location. They are also urging the public to look in their sheds or abandoned buildings, as Mr. Cabral may be sleeping rough.

The claim by Police that Mr. Cabral had not been seen since Friday 13 came as a surprise to one woman who told The Royal Gazette she had seen him the following Tuesday.

She was driving her daughter past Heron Bay MarketPlace when she noticed a man shouting at her car and other motorists.

When she saw Mr. Cabral's photo in the paper two days later she immediately called Police who, she said, seemed uninterested in the information.

She said Mr. Cabral was wearing a red plaid shirt and tan pants, just as the Police had described.

As news of the intensive search in the east end circulated her husband said: "If they think he has never left St. David's they are sadly mistaken."

He said he was annoyed the Police had ignored their tip.

The Royal Gazette contacted east end Police with the information and an officer said he was grateful of the "new" lead.

He said: "There out looking for him now, there's a great deal of effort put into trying to locate him. Maybe they are in completely the wrong area."
