First 'Old House' segment on Bermuda to debut tonight

Bermuda will receive the first instalment of a eight-part tourism boost this evening when the renovation work on the home of Delaey Robinson and Andrea Dismont's home is screened on PBS.

The ‘This Old House' Bermuda project will premiere on local cable (Channel 5) at 9 p.m. and followed at 9.30 by ‘Ask This Old House'.

The filming of the St. George's residence marks only the second time that ‘This Old House' has been filmed outside the United States and it will be a tremendous tourism boost for the Island as the show is watched by millions every week.

The film crew returned to Bermuda this week to continue filming the renovation work and will return on March 12 for the final filming when the work is expected to be close to completion.

Eight half-hour episodes of the Bermuda project will be filmed to television audiences who will also learn about this country's unique building methods and other aspects of Bermuda life, as the crew went out and about looking for interesting side stories about the Island.

The show will be pre-empted for three weeks before resuming on Thursday, April 1 when the remaining seven episodes will air on a weekly basis.

Through a combination of award-winning television, a highly regarded magazine and an information-driven website, ‘This Old House' reaches about 53 million adults each month. Of that there are four million weekly viewers on PBS. The Bermuda project will be chronicled each month in ‘This Old House' magazine beginning with the April issue which goes on sale March 22.

Additional coverage will be included in the May, June and July issues which go on sale April 19, May 17 and June 28 respectively.

The 200-year old house called Harbour View beat out 40 other possibilities in the United States and three more in Bermuda when the producers of ‘This Old House' when looking for their latest project.
