Forbes puts $6.2m property in spotlight
A $6.2 million Bermuda property has made Forbes? magazines ?Home of the Week?.
Llenroc, in the Shaw Wood area of Pembroke, is showcased on the upmarket magazine?s website alongside a bizarre historical reference to Bermuda as the ?Isle of Devils?.
The home is described as follows in an issue which also features American?s most expensive high-rise apartments: ?The Shaw Wood area of Pembroke Parish was once a large piece of farmland that was subdivided into separate estates.
?Now it is a prestigious and private area near the town of Hamilton in Bermuda. The home featured here, called Llenroc, is located in Shaw Wood, and it is listed for $6.2 million. Built in the 1970s, the property has about 4,500 square feet of living space. There is a four-bedroom primary home, as well as a separate cottage ? where staff or guests can stay ? with its own private kitchen and laundry facilities.
?The property also has extensive patios, pergolas and terraces; a pool, a garden, and, because it is right on the water, one could always go swimming, fishing or boating in the bay behind the house.
?The property also comes with three moorings. There is also a pavilion near the pool with a dining area, a bar, a grill and a sauna. Sunbathers can take a dip in the pool or in the bay waters just steps away.?
Then under a section call ?Forbes Fact?, the Island is described as ?made up of seven islands, Bermuda is now known as a playground for the rich and famous (New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg regularly trots to his Bermuda estate for the weekend).
?It had, however, historically been known as the ?Isles of Devils? based on the belief that the there were devilish forces that attached themselves to vessels, causing frequent shipwrecks.?
