Harriers make stopover

Royal Air Force jets made a brief stopover in Bermuda yesterday to refuel.The Harrier Jump jets flew over Bermuda in close formation with a tanker aircraft, causing some to speculate that they were escorting something or someone important.However they were simply stopping off to refuel on their way to Germany. The jets came from Las Vegas and will refuel again in the Azores before they reach their final destination.

However they were simply stopping off to refuel on their way to Germany. The jets came from Las Vegas and will refuel again in the Azores before they reach their final destination.
The jets are capable of short take-offs and landings, which look almost vertical. They are typically used for light attack or multi-role tasks and are often operated from small aircraft carriers.
