Hit-and-run moped rider arrested in Devonshire

A hit-and-run moped rider who fled after knocking over a Policewoman has been arrested. The female officer was at the junction of Middle Road and Parsons Lane in Devonshire on Saturday morning, stopping traffic to allow participants in the Bermuda International Race Weekend 10K event to pass. A motorcycle travelling north on Parsons Lane struck the officer, knocking her to the ground.

Despite being told to stop the rider of the motorcycle then fled the scene. The suspect, a 29-year-old Pembroke woman, was later arrested on Hermitage Road in Devonshire.

She was not injured, but her passenger, a young boy, sustained a minor abrasion to his knee. The officer sustained cuts and abrasions to her face, body and hands. She was treated at hospital and later released.
