Home hopes for Budget cash
The Health Department is hoping to get funds in the coming Budget to replace the roof at Lefroy House seniors home which has been damaged since Hurricane Fabian.
Work will cost around $2 million after the 2003 storm tore sections of the roof off while renovation work has failed to make it watertight.
Health Permanent Secretary Kevin Monkman said Lefroy House consisted of two sections and that eight or ten residents in the damaged two storey section had been transferred to live alongside residents in the adjacent one storey section.
He denied the residents, who number around 45, were suffering from overcrowding and explained that the one-storey had spare capacity following renovation.
He said: ?There is no issue with that.?
