Island hotels get high marks in survey
The Reefs are continuing its award winning streak in US travel magazines after being yet again voted among the world?s best hotels by readers of Travel & Leisure and Conde Nast Traveller.
But Waterloo House took first place among Conde Nast readers for hotels in Bermuda.
The Reefs ranked second in Travel & Leisure?s 500 list among all the hotels in the Caribbean, Bermuda and the Bahamas.
First place went to Cap Juluca, a resort in Antigua whose competitive edge was its beach ? ground floor rooms were directly on the sand. Service standards at Cap Juluca were graded at 92.73 (staff are trained at a local butler school), location at 97.09, and overall the resort was received marks of 89.24. Double rooms at the resort started at an impressive $780.
In contrast, the Reefs? competitive edge came from its three restaurants and ?ambitious, well-executed dishes?. Service standards were at 90.18, location at 96.43, and overall the Reefs was marked 88.35. Double rooms at the Reefs were listed as starting at $454.
Waterloo House ranked eighth on the Travel & Leisure list, while Cambridge Beaches ranked 13th.
Conde Nast Traveller recently released their 2005 Gold List, ranking the top three hotels in Bermuda as Waterloo House, the Reefs, and Horizons.
Staff at third place Horizons were ?fantastic? and ?courteous?, while staff at second place Reefs were ?charming? and ?efficient?. Staff at top pick Waterloo House were called ?discreet? and ?caring?.
The Gold List is comprised after a tabulation of more than 20,000 Readers? Choice questionnaires submitted by Conde Nast subscribers.
?Since these prestigious awards are the result of reader polls, the only way we can be recognised is by consistently providing superior customer satisfaction,? Reefs general manager Neal Stephens said.
?Receiving both underscores our staff?s commitment to delivering a memorable experience while offering exceptional value to our guests.?
