Man charged with causing woman?s death

A man accused of causing the death of Canadian barmaid Anett Farkas through dangerous driving pleaded not guilty at Supreme Court yesterday.

Donald Iain MacDonald, 28, is said to have committed the offence on North Street, Pembroke, on September 5, 2005.

Ms Farkas, who had been living in Bermuda for less than two months, suffered serious head injuries in a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and an auxiliary cycle.

The 24-year-old, who worked at the Robin Hood pub in Richmond Road, Pembroke, had moved to Bermuda from Montreal last July.

Among the other defendants who appeared before Chief Justice Richard Ground at Supreme Court during the monthly arraignments session was Tyrone Brangman ? whose name is also listed on some court documents as Tyone Brangman.

The 19-year-old is charged with breaching a probation order imposed after he assaulted a senior and put her into a coma in February, 2003.

Josie Ray, 77, died 19 months after the incident outside Southampton Post Office.

Brangman, who is represented by lawyer Peter Farge, had his bail extended until he next appears before the court on April 3.
