Roan Bicarie said he had survived the last year thanks to an outpouring of goodwill since the death of his wife Andrea.

But the memories of that awful day still haunt him and his six-year-old daughter Asha.

?It?s not a day that goes by that I don?t think of her,? Mr. Bicarie told a Bermuda College memorial service yesterday marking the first anniversary of Andrea?s death.

Mrs. Bicarie, 34, was killed after she and her parked car were crushed by a wall which collapsed on the boundary between the Elbow Beach Hotel and Bermuda College.

A teacher at The Educational Centre (TEC), she had escorted GED students to the Bermuda College for a mock examination when the accident occurred at 10 a.m.

Roan said he and Asha were overwhelmed by the support from friends and loved ones.

?I thank everyone for organising this and I know that if she was here, she would have thanked everyone for organising this.

?Some people sent cards with well wishes ? it all made a difference.?

TEC student Tashae Brown presented Mr. Bicarie with a book collage of pictures in her honour. The book, entitled ?Heaven Got a New Angel?, contained photos of the late Mrs. Bicarie and the students.

Miss Brown said: ?This is about how we felt about her.?

Director of TEC Declan Harris said her spirit rests in peace.

?Andrea wouldn?t have wanted it any other way.?

Mr. Harris also presented $500 to the Andrea Bicarie Educational Trust to fund young Asha?s studies.

?The students raised this in their bake sales,? he said.

He added that many of the students she taught had gone on to higher education and passed their GED examination.

Bermuda College president Michael Orenduff said ?she was doing what we consider the Lord?s work?.

He called on people to continue to remember the Bicarie family in their prayers.
