In the interest of public safety, the Ministry of Works and Engineering has closed a section of Broome Street in Somerset.

The area of the street between Cricket Lane and Railway Trail was closed on Friday and will remain closed until further notice.

In a press release, the Ministry said it there were problems with the flood lights at Somerset Cricket Club and some concern field light poles might fall onto the roadway.

In order to avoid potential injury the Ministry closed off the street.
