A research vessel en route to Brazil was diverted to Bermuda last night after a female crew member suffered severe head lacerations.
The Oceanus out of Woods Hole, Massachusetts docked off Penno's Wharf shortly after 9 p.m. and the woman was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. Her injuries were not thought to be life threatening although her fellow crew members had been unable to stop the bleeding on board.
Oceanus remained in Bermuda overnight and is expected to depart this morning.
