Seaman in hospital
An Ordinary Seaman was rescued off of the Liberian registered East Siberian Sea early Monday morning after experiencing chest pains.
Harbour Radio received a call from the owner of the gasoline tanker last Wednesday reporting the situation.
The tanker, sailing from Lithuania to the United States, was 1,200 miles away from Bermuda when she diverted and called for an emergency evacuation. On the 18th the tanker arrived at 4.30 a.m. and a pilot boat was dispatched to disembark the seaman, who landed on Bermuda at Ordnance Island.
The crewman, a 36-year-old Russian, was reported to be in good condition in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after suffering from chest pains.
He is currently undergoing testing and it is expected that that once he is released from the hospital he will be repatriated.
