Speeder was nearly three times over the limit

A man who sped past Police while nearly three times over the drink drive limit was handed a fine and ban by a magistrate.

Antoine Fox committed the offence on Kindley Field Road on the evening of November 26 last year, Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney told Magistrates? Court.

Patrol officers saw him ride past them at high speed on a motorcycle, heading east. They began to follow the 30-year-old as he overtook a long line of traffic, swerving from side to side.

He stopped for the Police near the Swing Bridge and stumbled as he got off the bike. Officers observed he smelled of alcohol and had glassy eyes. Fox, a plumber from Emily?s Bay Lane, St. George?s, denied he was drunk but a later test revealed he had 232 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol.

Mr. Mahoney told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner that Fox had previous convictions for similar offences. Mr. Warner fined him $1,000 and banned him from driving for 12 months.
