Teen arrested in attack on senior

Police have arrested a 17-year-old Pembroke youth in connection with the Sunday mugging of 77-year-old Josie Ray, who was left fighing for her life after suffering bleeding and swelling of the brain.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said he wanted to thank the public for coming forward and assisting over the attack, which took place at the Southampton Post Office.

He added: "We are still appealing for witnesses to talk to Detective Inspector Stuart Crockwell at 299-4315 or call the confidential Crimestoppers hotline at 1-800-623-8477."

Yesterday in the House of Assembly, Public Safety Minister Terry Lister said the Police alone could not solve crime, but needed the help of the community at large to nip it in the bud before it flourished.
