Why can't anyone tell me what happened to my son?
A grief-stricken father is still waiting to find out how his taxi driver son died ? almost two weeks after the 59-year-old was found in his cab.
Roland Belboda told he was frustrated that Police were taking so long to provide him with information about the last moments of his son Franklin.
Detectives said last night that a post-mortem had been carried out and that they had ruled out foul play but would not reveal the cause of death.
Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said: "A file is being prepared for the coroner-magistrate."understands that Franklin, who was also a butcher at Whites, Middle Road, Warwick, took his own life.
He was found unresponsive by officers inside his taxi at 10.30 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, in Barry Road, St. George's, near Fort St. Catherine, after his father reported him missing to Police. He was later pronounced dead at the scene and his funeral took place last Friday.
Father-of-six Mr. Belboda, 81, who lived with Franklin at Bulkhead Drive, Warwick, said: "The Police haven't finished their investigation yet. They are thinking that it was not foul play but I really don't know.
"I asked them and they said they can't tell me anything until they finish their investigation. I'm waiting for them to give me some information. I'm a little frustrated. I'm frustrated they are taking so long to investigate the cause. I want to find out what happened or whether he did anything. They said they'll let me know. "
Widower Mr. Belboda, whose wife Aileen Sybil died seven years ago after a car crash, said he was still waiting to have his son's personal possessions, such as his keys and his taxi driver's licence, returned to him.
"He was a good son to me," he added. "I'm at a loss. He used to take care of me very well. I loved him and he loved me. My daughter is doing her best. She feeds me because I'm at the age that I'm not a very well person myself. I don't know what happened to Franklin until the Police tell me. That's what's got me puzzled. He is gone but I sure miss him. I want to find out what was the problem he had."
Mr. Caines said the circumstances surrounding Mr. Belboda's death would be determined at an inquest.
"It would not be prudent for us to comment at this juncture," he added.
Sybil Belboda, 71, suffered massive head injuries after a taxi driver crashed the cab she was travelling in with her husband in December 1998. She died a week later and Noel Kenneth Bascome, of Pembroke, was later jailed after being found guilty of causing death by driving while impaired.
